Teresa Bush-Chavey brings over two decades of legal experience to her role as a workplace and campus investigator at Grutman Law. A seasoned litigator and former court-appointed attorney, Teresa has conducted thousands of interviews across a wide spectrum of legal matters, from housing and education to tax law and juvenile dependency. Her career reflects a steadfast commitment to impartial fact-finding, client advocacy, and public service.

Prior to joining Grutman Law, Teresa held positions in both private and public sectors, including with the U.S. Small Business Administration, California Rural Legal Assistance, and multiple legal aid organizations. Her background spans civil litigation, administrative hearings, and complex settlement negotiations. She has successfully represented clients in both trial courts and administrative tribunals, including Office of Administrative Hearings and Juvenile Court.

In addition to her professional practice, Teresa has a longstanding dedication to pro bono work. She has volunteered with organizations such as the Federal Pro Bono Panel, Women Escaping a Violent Environment (WEAVE), and Legal Services of Northern California, focusing on areas including domestic violence, eviction defense, and immigration.

Teresa holds a J.D. from McGeorge School of Law and a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah. She also has experience in higher education as an assistant professor of political science and is certified in online instruction.

When she’s not conducting investigations, Teresa enjoys stargazing and attending amateur astronomy events — often under the clearest skies she can find.
